Repeaters Repeaters Repeaters, yes we have repeaters on the Garden Island, Kaua'i.

Update 4/16/07: The 147.16 MHz repeater is down.

The two main  repeaters for Kaua'i are 146.92 MHz  -600 on the south side of the island and 147.16 MHz +600 on the north side of the island.  The two repeaters are link together.  No tones are necessary on the repeaters.  We do have  more repeaters, but they are not link and have very little traffic compare to our main repeaters. 

We are a small group of Hams here on the Garden Island, so you might not hear much activity. About half of us work and the other half are busy with retirement.  Please call and do not give up trying to contact us.  We will answer and would like to talk to you.

Our two main repeaters are located in isolated spots on mountain tops for better coverage.  They are solar power with large storage batteries.  They  have been operating for years without any maintenances.  We would like to visit the sites soon for maintenances reasons.  Because they are located on mountain tops in isolated locations, they are hard to get to them for maintenances.  If you would charter a helicopter for us, you can go with us on our visit to the repeaters.  Seriously, helicopter is the only way we can get to these repeater sites and we do need a ride.
